My favorite quote is "Whether you think you can, or think you can't you are right." There is so much truth in that. This year will be El Dorado Hills CrossFit's 5 year anniversary. I have seen a lot of people come and go. You can always tell right away if someone will stick around or not. The ones that have been here the longest and the people that have had the most success are the ones that believed they can reach the goals that they set for themselves. They never give up, no matter how hard it gets. Whether it's a 5 minute AMRAP or its Murph, they show up and get it done.
Success is all a state of mind. Sometimes when I'm squatting I think, this is sooo heavy. But then I'll stop myself and say, I've done this 1000 times before, this is easy. And it feels lighter. Or if I want to give up on a workout, I'll think of a goal of mine, and I'll push a little harder.
There's is no big secret to success. The people that do well are willing to endure short-term pain for long-term gain. They think of what they want to achieve, rather than how they are suffering. Working out like we do is hard. Especially when you push. To be honest, it's painful sometimes. If you think it is going to be too hard, you are right. But if you think you can do it, you are right as well.
This year challenge yourself to push a little harder, to move a little better, and to eat healthier. Sacrifice the short term pleasures of skipping your workout, half-assing it, or eating that cake in order to experience the long-term gains that would be the result. A better body, and a healthier life.
